GrandWest Casino & Entertainment World is the place to be to bid farewell to 2009 and to welcome in 2010.  The venue plans to be a hub of activity which will take guests through the night and into the dawn of the New Year.  Activities at the complex include:

 

Casino

The complex offers two casino floors catering for smokers and non-smokers.  The non-smoking casino floor boasts 1400 slot machines and 44 tables and is surrounded by 24-hour bars and restaurants.  For smokers, there is a smoking casino floor with an additional 1 100 slot machines and 24 tables plus an MVG lounge and seated bar area.

 

 

Hanover Street

Exotic night club Hanover Street offers both smoking and non-smoking levels surrounding a central dance floor.   Get into a party spirit and a live broadcast from Heart 104.9 fm as they count down to the New Year on Saturday, 31 December.  Doors open at 21h00 and entry costs R80.00 per person.

Roxy Revue Bar

Enjoy an intimate theatre experience at the Roxy Revue Bar every Wednesday through to Saturday night.  Welcome in the New Year with the talented cast of Summertime!  as they get you in the mood with a medley of ‘summer’ songs.  The show is directed by Cedric Vandenschrik with musical direction by Amanda Tiffin and features a five piece band and three vocalists.  A special New Year’s Eve show will begin on 31 December at 22h30.  Tickets cost R120 and guests will receive a party pack and a glass of sparkling wine on arrival.  All other shows begin at 20h30 and cost R67.00 per person.  Tickets can be booked through Computicket.

 

The District

The District caters for even the most discerning tastes.  The focal point is Jackson Hall, a New Orleans-style cocktail bar with DJ entertainment and a live band every Wednesday, Friday and Saturday night between 22h00 and 01h00. The Coyote Ugly Dancers add extra glamour to the bar counter at 23h15. Don’t miss the grand finale of the Open Mic Jazz contest on Friday, 30 December. Indian restaurant Bukhara leads diners on a spicy culinary journey with dishes from the various regions of the Indian sub-continent while the Beijing Orchard will tantalise with their masterful oriental dishes created from only the freshest ingredients and spices.

 

The Cape Town Fish Market capitalises on Cape Town’s proximity to the ocean and a daily fresh supply of fish and shellfish.  Select your own lobster from the lobster tank and try one of the seafood platters overflowing with Cape mussels, grilled calamari and butterflied prawns.  Or if sushi is more to your liking, try the freshest array of delicacies from the Fish Market’s innovative sushi conveyor.

 

South Africans love steak and Squires doesn’t disappoint, nor does it come any fresher.  Although famous for its steaks, Squires also provides fine vegetarian, poultry and fish options and a wide variety of delicious deserts.

 

With an authentic Italian backdrop, Bella Gina provides the culinary aromas and flavours of Italy with a mouth-watering selection of pasta’s ranging from gnocci to linguini, spaghetti and penna, all nestled in piquantly flavoured sauces and fillings.  Wood-oven baked pizza’s complete the Italian taste sensation.

 

The Quarterdeck restaurant, located off GrandWest’s main casino floor, offers a vast buffet with more than 100 dishes catering for all tastes of all ages.  Guests can choose from an extensive hot and cold menu ranging from cold meats and salads to roasted meats and carvery, vegetable buffet, hot seafood dishes, various pizza and pastas and last, the piece de resistance, the patisserie pastry counter guaranteed to indulge even the sweetest tooth. Children
